Ask Alice – December 2012

Name: Curious
Question: Who’s Alice?
Answer: Alice is I. I am an anonymous student at Lisgar. I care about you and everyone else at Lisgar, so I want to help. I give advice on everything. If you’re having trouble with bullying, classes, your love life or lack thereof, then I will be here to answer your questions. I won’t judge you, and neither will anyone else (mainly because they don’t know who you are), so don’t hesitate to ask your most awkward questions!

Name: Mustafa
Question: What is truth?
Answer: Truth is the quality or state of being true. This seems like such a simple question, but in reality it’s not. How can truth be defined unless the definition is true, but how can you be sure that the definition is true when you are unsure about what truth is? Nonetheless I will attempt to answer your question, Mustafa, in the best way that I can. Truth is an innocent child who doesn’t know how to lie. Truth is the first thought that comes to your mind, but you reject because it’s harsh, because it’s the truth. Truth hurts. Truth is beautiful. Truth is the answer to every question that has ever been asked. Truth is the reason you are alive. It is the purpose to your life, which you may never discover.

Name: Tyrion Lannister
Question: I like to wear heels, but my friends make fun of me for pretending to be tall. What should I do?
Answer: Tyrion, I honestly understand how you must feel. You have my sympathies. It’s okay to wear heels because you want to be tall; that is after all why heels were invented along with the fashion statement that they provide. Tell your friends that you are not pretending to be tall, but are making a statement! Heels are a great accessory to every outfit and need to be appreciated, so long as you know how to walk in them. However, on another note I feel that you should refrain from wearing heels because you need to embrace your height. It is not your fault that you were born a dwarf and that cannot be changed even by wearing heels. Heels are not an escape to your problems and don’t feel that you need to be tall in order for your father, Tywin Lannister, to love you. Eventually he will learn to appreciate you for your intelligence and the circumstances or your birth will not matter.

Name: Angela Loveless
Question: What is love? (Baby don’t hurt me, no more)
Answer:  “I want no other, no other lover This is your life, our time When we are together, I need you forever. Is it love?” – Haddaway.

Yes, that most likely is love. However, if you’re not familiar with the song and simply quoted it by mistake, here is another definition from me. Love is when you’re not afraid to be who you are in front of someone because you know they won’t judge you. I won’t judge you; therefore, I love you.

Name: Electra
Question: I’m in love with a teacher. What do I do?
Answer: I find that easy to believe because the teachers at Lisgar are so amazing; nonetheless you should move on. If you truly love your teacher then don’t try to build on your love because quite frankly it’s illegal. That’s probably not what you wanted to hear, but it’s the truth. Instead, keep yourself busy by joining a club or team outside of school, or if you’re not already the most exceptional student then focus on your studies, so you can set up a future for yourself. Don’t worry. You’ll find someone else closer to your age. You’re only in high school and you’ve got your whole life ahead of you! Love your teachers, but don’t be IN love with your teachers. Good luck.

Name: Why doesn’t Lisgar have elevators.
Question: Why doesn’t Lisgar have elevators?
Answer: We here at Lisgar encourage healthy living and an active lifestyle. We understand that with all of the homework you have it is difficult for you to incorporate going to the gym into your busy schedule, so we’ve created a workout for you! By simply climbing the stairs to go to your classes you no longer need to worry about going to the gym.
